Plans for a multi-million pound redevelop-ment of the Commemoration Hall in Huntingdon will be unveiled to the public next month.
An open day in the hall, in High Street, will take place on March 4 as part of a session to hear what residents and hall users think of the proposals.
Scott Hutchison, trustee member and project manager, said: “The reason we are having an open day is to allow people to come in and see in fine detail what the plans are offering.
“We want to hear from people if there is anything that they would like to see that hasn’t been considered in the proposal and then we will take these back to the architects.”
Work on the Grade-II listed hall’s revamp is due to begin in April, and is expected take about two years to complete but trustees hope that by the time the project is complete it will be a social hub for the people of Huntingdon.
“It is a building that is central for the people in the town and they are the ones who are going to be spending money here so we want to hear people’s views,” added Mr Hutchison.
As a part of the proposal, additional space will be created by opening up unused rooms, as well as a plan to add two further floors under the hall’s existing basement.
Mr Hutchison revealed the building will be extended at the rear to include a glass-fronted café and other meeting rooms on several levels.
Within the plans the hall will also be able to have a gallery as well as upgraded facilities including dressing rooms, lighting and toilets.
While the hall is closed, trustees will be using social media to keep people updated.
The open day will run from 10.30am to 3.30pm at the Commemoration Hall on March 4
