Sawtry Community College students Amber Park, Daniel Lornie, Josie Fortune and Devan Wesley met with the 1,500m Olympic silver medallist at a motivation morning at Escape Fitness at Hampton, Peterborough. Cram, a former world record holder and a current BBC athletics commentator, spoke about how to achieve positive success in sport and life choices, using anecdotes and stories from his time on the track. There was also a Q&A session, before the youngsters and other guests were put through their paces in a fitness session led by one of the Escape Fitness instructors. A series of prizes were also available to win, with Josie winning one of the Crams trainers. Josie said: It was an amazing day. Steve Crams stories were funny and enlightening, and Ive come away feeling more confident and motivated than ever. To win one of his trainers as well was great! Its something really special to take away from a special day. Jody Lapish, PE teacher at Sawtry Community College, said: This has been a great opportunity for our students, and I know they really enjoyed the talk that Steve gave and the fitness session was a challenge they relished. At Sawtry we view sport and physical education as an important aspect in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both inside and outside of school, so opportunities like these involving a great voice within sport are valuable.
