Housebuilder Bellway received planning permission in March for vehicle and pedestrian access from Farriers Way, to the site, which was granted outline planning permission for up to 74 houses.Bellway has now submitted a reserved matters application for its proposed development, which will comprise three, four and five bedroom homes The proposal will also include 29 affordable dwellings as well as open green space on the site. As part of the planning agreement for the development, Bellway will make a financial contribution towards off-site recreation facilities in Warboys. However, some residents are not happy with the proposed plans, after concerns that the developers are building too many houses in a small space. Commenting on the planning application, Annmaria Barge told the council: I object to this application. The appearance is that of shoehorning properties into the space without due proper consideration of the impact to residents on Farriers Way and The Forge and ultimately the Warboys community. I believe there has not been due diligence. The access to this site is preposterous. Looking at my neighbours valid comments to this proposal I still cannot believe it has been approved and this whole consultation process seems to be lip service as the project just plows ahead. Mark Hedly also objected, telling the council: Access is via a very narrow and restricted view entrance from the High Street and then again in Farriers Way itself on the bend before Madecroft Other issues raised in the public consultation included the flooding risk, as the field is prone to flooding. Sales director for Bellways Northern Homes Counties division, Chris Edginton, said: Theres a growing need for new homes in Cambridgeshire, which we as a housebuilder are working hard to meet. We have recently started construction on new homes in Cottenham, where were also making considerable investment in infrastructure and facilities, and weve also submitted plans for new homes in Brampton. We have worked with the district and parish councils in drawing up these latest plans for new homes in Warboys to ensure they reflect the appearance of the local area and the requirements of the local community. We very much hope our application will be approved.
