Hinchingbrooke Hospital will be handed back to the NHS at the end of next month.
Circle, the private firm which has managed the Huntingdon hospital for the past three years, is in discussions with the Trust Development Agency to leave on March 31 – the end of the financial year.
In a statement, a spokesman for Hinchingbrooke said: “Planning is progressing around an indicative timeline for handover to NHS management by March 31, 2015, the end of this financial year.
“However, this is subject to further discussion and approval – the agreed timeframe must ensure there is no disruption to services and staff. Further updates will be provided when the final timeframe and process is agreed.”
