A NEW surgery for Sawtry looks set to get the green light next week in spite of objections from the village’s parish council.

Provision of the facility, on land west of Windsor Road, was a condition of outline planning consent being given by a planning inspector for 190 new homes – within weeks of approval by the Planning Inspectorate of a district council strategy limiting new development in the village to 60 homes.

If approved by HDC’s development management panel on Monday, the two-storey surgery will include six dedicated parking spaces.

The developers undertook to get the surgery built before the 16th of the new homes on the controversial site was occupied.

The parish council says access should be from the development site rather than from an already-congested cul de sac, and there has been one other letter of objection from a neighbour in Maple Close.

Following the parish council’s objection, the developers agreed to move the access to the development site when that became possible, so planners say the impact on residents of Windsor Road should be temporary.
