Chickens have brightened up the lives of older people at a care home in Huntingdon.

Ringshill Care Home, in Sallowbush Road, has welcomed some new four legged residents to its coop.

Home manager Katie Wilkinson said: “We spoke to residents about re-homing the hens and we all thought it would be a good idea to make Ringshill their forever home.”

The four hens were previously housed in a battery farm but it is hoped that with some care from staff and residents they will be plucky creatures once again.

Mrs Wilkinson added: “They were a little worse for wear when we received them as they used to peck at each other because there was so little room. Hopefully they'll enjoy having a new environment to live in with plenty of space.”

The feathered friends will be kept in the care home's courtyard and looked after by those living and working at the home.
