THERE is nothing children like more than playing, and over 60 got the chance to do just that on Monday (October 22) when the new Eynesbury play park was officially opened.

The facility, located on the green on Balmoral Way, has been planned since the Parklands Estate was built in the 1980s and was unveiled to the delight of Eynesbury youngsters.

The project underwent a wide consultation during which objections were raised by members of the Action Against Play Area Group, consisting of residents from Balmoral Way, Cawdor Place, Dunster Way and Bodium Way.

However the Council said that, on balance, there were no reasons not to install the new play park.

The triangular park was built using 16,000 of Section 106 money from Tescos and had sat idle for many years.

Councillor Roger Harrison, Chair of the Operations and Amenities Committee who oversaw the project, told The Hunts Post: “I was very pleased to open the new play area in Eynesbury on Monday.

“It was one of our pledges before we were elected and we have delivered not only a new excellent facility for the kids of Eynesbury, but at no cost to the tax payer.

“In a time of austerity, when some Councils are cutting services and facilities, it’s great for us at St Neots Town Council to give people something for nothing.”

The fenced-off play area includes slides, swings, ropes, balancing frames and a bench.
