More than 120 people attended the opening of Kimbolton’s new Budgens store last Thursday, keeping the tills busy within moments of the ribbon cutting.
Owner Charles Robinson was joined by friends, family and Cambridgeshire county councillor Peter Downes at the Thrapston Road shop.
Kimbolton-based sports groups including Kimbolton Cricket Club and the Cambs Badminton Academy arrived in their kits to start shopping.
“It’s an exciting time for my family and I,” Mr Robinson said. “We love Kimbolton and believe our Budgens store will cater to all the local residents within a five-mile radius. We’re keen to work with local people and to support local producers in the area too.”
The 2,000 sq ft store sells fresh, locally sourced produce as well as other goods.
