A new floor has been fitted in Offord Village Hall after fundraising efforts were supported by three initiatives.

The original floor had become problematic as sections of it were prone to lifting in hot and humid weather.

Because of the problem, some organisations that needed the floor to be smooth, such as the bowls club or dance classes, were unable to use the hall.

In August, the new floor was fitted by Superior Finish of St Ives, and was funded by the National Lottery, Bernard Sunley and Cotton Farm Wind Farm community benefit fund.

Hall trustees also held events to bring in additional funding.

Helen Young, a volunteer at Offord Brownies, said: “It will make such a difference when we play games because we won’t have to worry about tripping up any more.”

The first event to test the new surface will be a ceilidh which is being held on September 15, at 7.30pm. Tickets via www.ticketsource.co.uk at £12, includes supper.
