A NEEDINGWORTH pub has chosen the village’s scout group as its charity of the year.

For three years the 1st Needingworth Scout Group has been planning its trip to Camp William B Snyder in Virginia, organising fundraising events to help cover the costs.

And now the Queen's Head landlords Linda and Fraser Macrae have decided to support the group with its annual golf tournament.

The scouts are taking 20 members to the United States, including a trip to Washington DC, to celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee with the Boy Scouts of America. To mark the occasion, diamond jubilee scout badges will be presented to the American scouts.

The scouts fly out on June 1, and will host a barbecue for their American counterparts on June 5. They will also visit a variety of sites in the capital city.
