The popular eatery, which specialises in chicken dishes, could move onto the Towerfields leisure site, taking over the former Blockbuster unit. The owners of the site Legal and General have put in a planning application to extend the Blockbuster unit, giving it the space needed to accommodate the kitchens and dining space, and for a change of use from retail to restaurant/cafe. According to the planning documents submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council, the proposal would create 40 new jobs split equally between full and part time roles. The extension would add another 108sq m to the 190sq m already available. A report by Maddox & Associates, on behalf of Legal and General, states: Nandos has agreed terms to occupy the unit once completed, subject to gaining planning permission. The scheme also includes plans to provide an additional eight parking spaces across the Towerfields site. Blockbusters closed at Towerfields Leisure Park in 2013 and, the report adds, there were no takers for the unit in its current form.
