No fowl play was the conclusion of an investigation into the appearance of a marquee at the entrance to a Hemingford Grey poultry farm.

Suspicions were raised when the structure was put up at Galley Hill Farm, in Cambridge Road, just off the A14, earlier this month. It was thought to be close to the site of a proposed wind turbine and it was reported to Huntingdonshire District Council.

An HDC spokeswoman said one of the authority’s planning enforcement officers was told it was for a corporate function.

“This will involve a series of awards and presentations, which will finish on January 24 and the marquee will be off site by the end of January 27,” she said. “It does not require planning permission. We will check the site after this date.”

A 42m turbine has been proposed for the farm, which is owned by Amber Real Estate Investments Ltd. Objectors have raised safety concerns because of the proximity to the A14.

HDC has yet to rule on the planning application.
