The Huntingdon branch of Waitrose donated £510 to the charity after customers chose it as one of the beneficiaries of the shops Community Matters scheme. The money has paid for an off-road buggy for Corey Sherington, of Yaxley. Corey was born with a rare birth defect which means his development age is between nine and 12 months and he cannot walk unaided or talk. His previous wheelchair was difficult to use on grass, tracks, and some pavements. His new three-wheeled buggy is much more suited to off-road conditions in the countryside and on beaches. Coreys mum Jackie said: We can go on family days out again thanks to the Pidley Mountain Rescue Team. To see Corey smile and giggle as we explore the beach or woods is absolutely priceless. Trevor Peacock, Pidley Mountain Rescue Teams chairman, said: Weve provided several of these off-roader buggies to children with mobility problems within our community, and they make a real difference to the lives of the kids and their families. Thank you to all Waitrose shoppers in Huntingdon for choosing us and contributing to one of our very important rescues.
