A motorist was taken to hospital after a three-car collision near Woodhurst on Monday.

Cambridgeshire police were called to the B1040 shortly after 9am following reports that three cars had been involved in a collision.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: "We were called by the fire service to reports of a three vehicle collision on Wheatsheaf Road, B1040, at the crossroads with Somersham and Woodhurst.

"The vehicles involved were a grey Ford Cougar, blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Fiat Leon."

The spokesman added that one person was taken to hospital by the East of England Ambulance Service. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The B1040 was blocked while recovery vehicles were called to help clear the scene.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended but its services were not required as all three drivers were able to escape from their cars.
