Zoe Baxendale and Kate Smith, from Bluntisham, climbed nine of the highest peaks in the Lake District inside 48 hours in support of WellChild. The duo have originally planned to do eight but, after completing the feat, decided to tackle a ninth. It was hard work and I was prepared a little for the physical challenge but not for the constant concentration required for each footstep, said Zoe. We had such a fantastic team spirit, Im on a high but I dont want to see any more boulders for a while. Despite deciding to take on the challenge at six weeks notice, and with little climbing experience, the pair managed to raise more than £1,300 for the charity. WellChild provides nursing and volunteer support to families of sick children so that they can spend time at home.
