The cause of a fire at Kimbolton School which is thought to have resulted in £5,000 of damage is being investigated.
More than 20 firefighters from St Neots, Huntingdon, Bedford, Rushden and Raunds responded to the call at about 2.45pm yesterday (Wednesday).
The fire started in ducting from a design technology workshop and was contained to an extraction unit outside the building.
A Kimbolton School spokesman said: “Whilst it is a teaching area, there were no pupils in the department at the time.
“The only person present attempted to fight the fire before leaving the building safely. No pupil was involved in the incident and no one was injured.”
Firefighters wearing oxygen masks put out the fire and returned later with thermal cameras to make sure it would not re-ignite.
The spokesman added: “We are grateful to the teams from the Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service who, along with colleagues from Northamptonshire, responded to this incident.”
