A family has been “moved into temporary hotel accommodation” while police continue their investigations in Wendens Ambo.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of terrorism offences and a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed today (Tuesday) that the man remained in custody.
Police, fire and ambulance crews arrived in Wendens Ambo on Friday and were still at the scene today, with activity focussed on Mutlow Close.
The Met Police spokesman added: "Police conducting searches at a residential address in Essex in connection with an ongoing investigation have moved a family into temporary hotel accommodation."
In a statement released yesterday (Monday), the Met Police said: "The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Metropolitan Police's counter terrorism command. Enquiries continue. The arrest was made under Section 41 of the terrorism act.
"The Metropolitan Police is one part of a UK-wide counter-terrorism policing network. Occasionally, it carries out investigations outside their area."
