The shop will enable the charity to raise more vital cash to continue their work. Sadly every year unwanted pets are found abandoned and neglected. But each year 5,000 dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits find new, loving homes thanks to the work of Wood Green Animal Shelter which is one of the largest animal rehoming centres in Europe. Ahead of a vote on rabbit welfare next week in the European Parliament, the Labour MEP will also take the opportunity to hear from staff about top tips to make sure rabbits live a happy and healthy life. Ms Mayer, who is a member of the European Parliaments All-Party Animal Welfare Group said: Its fantastic to cut the ribbon to support Wood Green. Im sure we can rely on local people to shop till they drop to help thousands of our furry and feathered friends. Cruelty to animals makes me hopping mad but Wood Green carries out great work to promote animal welfare. I am delighted to see their work first hand, especially in their small animals centre. You could say Im a very happy bunny.
