Two men were arrested for shooting at swans in St Ives on Saturday afternoon (October 18).

The two men were spotted on a boat at The Quay targeting swans on the River Great Ouse with air rifles.

There was also concern that the guns were pointing “in the general direction of people” on the quayside.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 1.55pm on October 18 to reports that a couple of men were on a boat in The Quay and they were shooting at swans with air rifles.”

The men, a 51-year-old and a 53-year-old, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to create fear or violence. They were released and face no further action.
