THE X FACTOR: A teenager beat dozens of other entries to be crowned Huntingdon’s Got Talent winner at the competition in aid of Children in Need.
Matilda Perez, 14, of Hilton, pictured, wowed judges with her rendition of What a Wonderful World at the talent contest last Thursday
The competition, organised by Marilyn Kiff, with support from housing association Luminus, was held at the Commemoration Hall. Sitting on the judge’s panel was Huntingdon mayor Chris Doyle.
Matilda admitted being nervous before she went on stage. She said: “I have got more used to performing. There was so many dancers though that night. I was quite shocked when they said I had won.”

Mum Jo said: “The other acts were really good, and it is difficult in those sort of competitions to know whether the judges want dancing or singing.”
The Swavesey Village College pupil has been performing since she was four. She attended the Stagecoach drama school until she was 10 and now gets voice training from vocal coach and Loose Women TV presenter Zoe Tyler.

Matilda, a Hunts Post delivery girl, is keen to take her talent further but knows her next big challenge will be passing her GCSEs in two years’ time.
Mrs Perez said: “She does music and singing lessons. She has started playing the piano and started writing her own songs. It is her real passion. She would like for it go further, but she is quite grounded.”
