A man has suffered serious face and neck injuries while using a hedge-trimmer in Ramsey Heights.

Emergency services were called to the incident in Ugg Mere Court Road at about 9.50am on Tuesday (November 15).

According to Cambridgeshire police it is believed that the man, in his 50s, had been standing on boarding when the accident occurred, possibly slipping or the boards giving way.

A force spokesman said: "Police needed to attend to clarify the details of what had happened. Enquiries showed that the man had been contracted to cut hedges at the address.

"He was taken to hospital by ambulance and treated for lacerations."

East of England Ambulance Service crews treated the man at the scene before taking him to Peterborough City Hospital.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.50am on Tuesday after reports that someone had suffered serious face and neck injuries in an incident in Ramsey Heights.

"An ambulance and rapid response vehicle attended to provide care to the man, thoughts to be in his 50s, before taking him to Peterborough City Hospital for further treatment. Thankfully his injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening."
