A man is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday charged in connection with the death of two men following a collision in Yaxley.

Richard Frost, 39, of Dorset Avenue, in Chelmsford, Essex, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, one count of causing actual bodily harm (ABH), one count of common assault and two of money laundering.

Thomas Fletcher, 19, of Meadow Walk, Yaxley, and Thomas Northam, 22, of Lilac Walk, Yaxley, were killed in a collision on the B1091 on January 3.

Following the deaths, a series of tributes were left on social media.

Writing on Facebook, one user wrote: “RIP lads, your life was too short. You will live on in the hearts of your family and friends forever.”

Another said: “As a parent, I simply cannot comprehend what this must feel like for their families. Just too awful for words.”

In the wake of the deaths, a JustGiving page was set up to help with funeral costs.

More than 200 people donated to the site, with thousands of pounds raised.

The page said: “Both families are well-known in Farcet and Yaxley and our hearts go out to both their families. Our villages are devastated.

“Tom Fletcher and Tom Northam should have been looking forward to a whole life ahead of them, but sadly got taken away too soon. Fly high guys, well loved and well missed by all.”
