A MAN has been seriously injured after being trampled on by a herd of cows.

Ambulance crews were called to a field in Priory Hill, St Neots at 7.30pm yesterday (Monday).

Police said that the farmer had been informed and that no offence had taken place.

A similar incident occurred in 2010 on St Neots Common, when a 58-year-old man suffered a punctured lung after being trampled.

East of England Ambulance Service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "The man, who we believe to be in his 60s, received significant injuries.

"Following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by the ambulance crews, he was taken to the specialist trauma centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital for further care."
