A man was rushed to hospital with serious leg injuries following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Ramsey.

The East of England Ambulance Service and Magpas air ambulance was called to New Road at about midday on Saturday amid reports that a car had hit a pedestrian.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended and worked with paramedics to release the man, understood to be aged in his 30s, who was trapped under the car.

A spokesman for Magpas said: “The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient who had sustained a serious leg injury. They gave the patient advanced pain relief at the scene before accompanying him to Peterborough City Hospital via land ambulance.”

The fire service said that crews from Ramsey and Chatteris attended the incident.

A spokesman added: “Using specialist equipment the crews worked with paramedics to release a male casualty from under the vehicle.”

The crews returned to their stations by 1.45pm.
