A MAN had to be rescued after falling down a disused well shaft at Paxton Pits on Saturday.
A MAN had to be rescued after falling down a disused well shaft at Paxton Pits on Saturday.
The man had become trapped himself after trying to rescue his dog from the well.
Fire crews from St Neots had to cut through a gate to access the well shaft and arrived at the scene at around 5.49pm on Saturday.
A passer-by had noticed the rescued dog in the field and found the man down the shaft before calling fire crews.

The man was treated for mild hypothermia and exhaustion.
