A MAN had to be cut free from a vehicle in a three-car pile-up outside a mosque in St Ives yesterday.

The casualty, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was cut out by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment and taken by ambulance to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Cambridgeshire Police, who also attended, said the man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered slight injuries.

The driver of the vehicle and two other people who were involved in the incident managed to release themselves.

The incident happened at 5.40pm on Needingworth Road, opposite the Jamia Masjid Mosque. Two crews from St Ives and a rescue vehicle from Huntingdon attended.
