Man injured after Sawtry van fire

A man was injured after a van caught on fire near Sawtry on Sunday.

Fire fighters from St Neots and Sawtry were called at 9.17am to find the van alight on the A1

Crews arrived to find a van on fire on the northbound carriageway near Sawtry. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and returned to their stations by 11.15am.

One male casualty required treatment for burns at the scene and was left in the care of ambulance crews.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
