TWO men escaped serious injuries when their lorry crashed into a tree in north Huntingdonshire yesterday afternoon.

A man, in his 30s, was thrown from the cab when the lorry came off Bullock Road between Washingley and Great Gidding, south of the turning to Caldecote, close to Moonshine Gap, at about 2pm.

A second man, also in his 30s, was involved but didn't suffer serious injuries.

Magpas Helimedix doctor Peter Holden and paramedic Mark Glover assessed the man who landed in a nearby field who was suffering from severe back pain.

He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital where he arrived in a stable condition.

Cambridgeshire police closed the road for two hours.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and in particular the driver of a people carrier who was in the area at the time of the incident.
