Police have confirmed that a man has died following a house fire in Brampton yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
Emergency services were called at about 11.27am with reports of a blaze at a property in Brampton High Street.
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended, but a man in his eighties was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road has now reopened and an investigation into the cause of the blaze has been investigated and deemed non-suspicious.
The case will be handed to the coroner.
