A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a two vehicle collision this morning (Wednesday).

The accident happened just before 7.30am on the B1040 at Pidley.

Ambulance and fire service were called to the scene and the man was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.

The road was closed between Fenton and Pidley for more than six hours while vehicles were recovered from the scene, before re-opening to traffic shortly after 3.30pm.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance said: “Two ambulances, an ambulance officer and a Magpas air ambulance medical car attended and treated four patients.

“One, a man in his 20s was taken to Addenbrooke’s with serious injuries and three others were discharged from scene without injury.”

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Huntingdon and Chatteris were called to a road traffic collision on Fenton Hill, Pidley.

“This was a two vehicle collision and firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to rescue one casualty by 8.30am.”
