A MAN is due in court to stand trial for the murder of St Ives mother Pauline Smith.
John Mearns, 54, of no fixed abode, is expected to appear at Cambridge Crown Court today (Monday).
The murder is alleged to have taken place on Thursday, October 27 last year, in Gainsborough Drive, St Ives.
A post mortem showed Ms Smith, 54, had died from “compression to the neck”.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
