A man has been charged with causing the death of Natalie Scotchford, who died when a van plunged into the River Nene.

The 19-year-old, of Blenheim Road, Ramsey, pictured, was a passenger in a van when it left St Mary’s Road, Ramsey, at about 4am on July 6 last year.

Yesterday (Tuesday), a 23-year-old man was charged with causing death by careless driving while over the limit. He will appear at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on February 4.

Natalie’s family said after her death: “Words cannot begin to convey how devastated we are at the loss of our beautiful Natalie. She was a popular, caring and loving young woman who loved her friends, her family and having fun. She’d just become a doting auntie and was doing a magnificent job supporting her sister looking after her little nephew.

“Natalie was so loved and these are a source of strength for us all. We are an exceptionally close family and we will remain united – as we have always been – to support each other through the difficult times ahead.”
