A man suffered head injuries after being attacked in St Neots as he returned from a charity event in London.
The 38-year-old was walking home from the train station along Priory Hill at about 1.50am on Saturday (January 18) when he was attacked from behind by two men.
He was punched several times to the back of the head and face. The offenders made off in a car, thought to be a silver or light-green metallic Ford Fiesta.
Detective Constable Karin Peters, investigating, said: “This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked attack.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault, or saw where the offenders went afterwards, to call police.
“I am particularly keen to trace the vehicle which was seen nearby at the time of the offence.”
Anyone with any information should call DC Peters on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
