A man and woman were left shaken after they were attacked in a petrol station.

The 29-year-old man pulled into the Shell garage next to the Caxton Gibbet roundabout just before 4pm yesterday when a blue Vauxhall Vextra pulled across his path.

The driver then pulled the man from his car and assaulted him. He then attacked the female passenger who tried to pull him from the victim.

Officers are now looking for the man, in his 30s, who was wearing a tight black T-shirt, blue jeans and black trainers. The attacker also had short black hair and stubble and a tattoo on his upper arm.

Pc Peter Sharp said: “The victim and his passenger both sustained minor injuries and have been very shaken up by this.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident. Anyone who saw this incident take place should get in touch with us – I'm particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the blue Vauxhall Vectra in the moments before this incident happened.”
