A man in his 80s had to be airlifted to hospital after colliding with a tree on a ride-on lawnmower.

The Magpas helicopter was sent to Hemingford Grey at about 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A spokesman for the life-saving charity said Dr David Driver and paramedic Dan Read were flown to a “difficult to access” part of the village.

The helimedix supported an East of England Ambulance crew giving treatment to the patient, who had suffered chest injuries.

He was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon and on arrival was said to be in a comfortable condition.
