MAGPAS is waiting for the “imminent arrival” of their own helicopter after the withdrawal of the Cambridgeshire police helicopter.

The emergency medical charity is expecting the delivery will happen next week and until then a Royal Air Force (RAF) search and rescue helicopter will pick up Helimedix teams from the RAF Wyton based and fly them to the scene of an emergency.

A spokesman said: "This arrangement has worked for a number of years and the charity hopes to enhance this long term partnership. Magpas is currently the only medical charity in the UK to train Royal Air Force doctors in advance of active deployment, so this is a logical development for us."
