Kitchen specialist Magnet has opened the first of its new-style “boutique” digital shops in Huntingdon.

The shop is the latest to open in the new part of the Chequers Court retail development in the town centre and features a range of touch screen tablets showing the latest kitchen trends and images of how the customers’ new kitchens will look.

In the past Magnet has concentrated on retail park showrooms.

Keith Sharp, manager at the new Huntingdon showroom, said: “The team is incredibly excited to be here in Huntingdon and the launch event was the perfect celebration to welcome Magnet to the town.

“The new digital concept store will be massively beneficial to customers in their selection and design process, so we’re really looking forward to meeting shoppers and introducing them to the new showroom. We understand how important your kitchen is to family life and everything we do is dedicated to creating kitchens that are part of the family.”

Mayor of Huntingdon Cllr Sarah Gifford led a ribbon-cutting ceremony to declare the store open and she was presented with a £300 cheque for her chosen charities. Jamie Oliver cookbooks were presented to shoppers.

The shop includes displays of kitchen ranges, worktops and accessories as well as a kitchen fitted out with Samsung’s high-tech smart appliance.
