A lorry fire closed both carriageways of the A14 last night (Thursday)

Firefighters from Huntingdon, St Ives and Yaxley were sent to the westbound carriageway near Fenstanton at 9.35pm.

A spokesman for Cambrigeshire Fire and Rescue said: “The lorry driver had taken on some smoke. He was given oxygen therapy by the crews however an ambulance wasn’t necessary.”

Fire crews were back on base by 12.05am. The cause of fire was accidental.

The westbound carriageway remained shut until the early hours of Friday.
