A lorry driver was rushed to hospital after his vehicle overturned on the A14 near Brampton this morning (Thursday).

Magpas Helimedix were called at about 4am to reports of an overturned lorry in the carriageway, with the East of England Ambulance Service and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service also in attendance.

A spokesman for Magpas said: “The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the man, in his 50s, who was trapped in the vehicle and had sustained multiple injuries before working with the Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service to extricate him from the lorry safely.

“The patient was in a stable condition when an ambulance service paramedic crew took him to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in Huntingdon.”

Cambridgeshire police also attended to manage traffic while emergency services worked at the scene.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said crews from St Neots and Huntingdon were called to the scene.

The spokesman said: “Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to extricate a male casualty from the HGV.

Crews used absorbent granules to cover a leak of around 100 litres of diesel and also dammed the drains.

The road was closed for about an hour and firefighters returned to their stations by 4.44am.”
