A LORRY ran off the A14 and into trees this morning (Wednesday) after its driver became unwell behind the wheel.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, suffered chest pains while driving and the lorry left the eastbound carriageway and hit trees at the roadside near Brampton at about 8.30am.
Police, ambulance and Magpas crews attended and worked together to assess the patient. He was then taken by land ambulance to Hinchingbrooke Hospital where his condition was described as stable.
A police spokesman confirmed that the man had been taken unwell while driving, but said that there had been no lane closures.
The Magpas Helimedix team then attended an incident in Houghton at 10.15am where the ambulance service had requested assistance with a man in his 70s who has suffered a severe heart attack.
The team administered pain relief and critical care before taking him to Papworth Hospital for further treatment.
