LORD Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Hugh Duberly has retired as Chairman of Trustees at Papworth Trust.

Mr Duberly, who lives in Great Staughton, Huntingdon, became a Trustee at the Huntingdonshire-based disability charity in 1992 and took over as Chairman in 1997.

Since then he has overseen the rapid growth of Papworth Trust, with its services expanding into new geographical regions and new areas such as mental health.

The charity itself has doubled in the last five year alone and now supports 20,000 people per year across the East of England.

Papworth Trust Chief Executive Officer Adrian Bagg said: "Hugh Duberly led the Board of Trustees and the organisation through example, by demonstrating our core values of being respectful, challenging, pioneering and informed.

"Papworth Trust now helps more people than ever before, and we will always be grateful to Hugh for driving and championing our development".

His successor will be announced at the charity's Annual General Meeting tomorrow (Thursday, September 27).
