A couple are celebrating their diamond anniversary after 60 years of marriage.
Dennis and Alice Cooper from Little Paxon met when they were both in their 20’s at a fairground.
Dennis, 84, recalls the moment he met Alice, he said: “I had never seen Alice before but I remember that she stood on my foot and then I saw her again later on - I thought she was a bit of alright.”
The pair went onto to have a double wedding with Dennis’ sister in Lincolnshire in 1955.
“It was a small wedding as we didn’t have much money - we held our reception in the village hall.”
After being together for over half a century the couple often get asked what the secret to staying together so long.
“We are just happy – everybody is different today they don’t stay together and work at things,” added Dennis.
