Dennis and Alice Cooper from Little Paxon met when they were both in their 20s at a fairground. Dennis, 84, recalls the moment he met Alice, he said: I had never seen Alice before but I remember that she stood on my foot and then I saw her again later on - I thought she was a bit of alright. The pair went onto to have a double wedding with Dennis sister in Lincolnshire in 1955. It was a small wedding as we didnt have much money - we held our reception in the village hall. After being together for over half a century the couple often get asked what the secret to staying together so long. We are just happy everybody is different today they dont stay together and work at things, added Dennis. To celebrate their diamond anniversary on August 6 Dennis and Alice received a card from the Queen. We also went out for a big Sunday roast with all our family which was lovely.
