The residents have been told by landlord Luminus to move out so the Huntingdon-based organisation can replace it with a £7million extra care facility. However, residents will hand in a petition to county councillors at the next full council meeting. Thea Johnson, 86, will address the council on the residents behalf, as will Councillor Paul Bullen, who has tabled a motion to get the cabinet to withdraw its support for Luminuss scheme and explore other options. At a meeting with residents on Thursday last week, Cllr Bullen, district and town councillor John Davies and St Ives deputy mayor Councillor Pam Edey all pledged to support the residents. Cllr Bullen also said he would ask the county council to tell Luminus to give them a two-week respite to gather their thoughts.
