A landmark building in the centre of St Neots has been put on the market.

The Oast House, which has a 75-foot oast chimney, is an 18th century Grade-II listed building and had been classed as an ancient scheduled monument by English Heritage.

The building, which sits adjacent to the Priory Centre, was originally part of the John Day Brewery.

The large building, with an internal area of about 5,400 sq ft, has two floors and has recently been refurbished as a wine bar and private members club.

Brown & Co Barfords, which is marketing the property, said: “Due to its size, the Oast House is likely to appeal to commercial businesses and community groups. Boasting such a large footprint, the ground floor east wing, presently the snooker room, could also be reconfigured to create a self-contained lettable unit, subject to planning permission.”

Speaking about the property, Tim Davies of Brown & Co Barfords, added: “The Oast House is a prominent feature of the St Neots town centre and offers a unique blend of history and, versatility, with convenient parking nearby. We are proud to support the sale of one of the most significant and recognisable commercial properties in the town.”

The building is up for sale with a guide price of £650,000.
