A team of Kimbolton School students claimed victory for the second year running in the Rotary Club of St Ives inter-schools quiz competition.

Captain Michael Millington, along with Lydia Carter, Umar Chaudhari, Ciane Hilborn, Zosia Gryf-Lowczowska, Rebecca Preece and Matt Smith, held their nerve in a nail biting finish – coming from behind in the final round to beat St Ivo School into second place by just five points, with a total score of 167 out of a possible 207. Third place went to Longsands Academy.

Each team was quizzed by a Rotarian in their own school, simultaneously, with round-by-round scores rung into a central scorer.

President of St Ives Rotary Club, Moira Penney, along with organiser Adrian Acton and quiz masters Richard Abington and Alan Ward, visited Kimbolton last week to present the winning team a commemorative certificate.

Mr Acton said: “The whole evening was a great success, with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves; it is now an established annual event.”
