Popular jewellery chain Pandora could be set to open a new outlet in Huntingdon, according to plans submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council.

Planning agent Axiom Design Resource Limited has applied to the authority for permission to install a new shop front and fittings to the former Next store in High Street.

The shop unit has been empty for about two years, since Next moved out of the town.

In a statement to planners, Axiom said: "On either side of the property are listed buildings which will not be affected by the installation of the Pandora store, no alteration or extension will take place on these properties.

"The store will blend in with its surroundings, taking particular care to keep its historical features and have a low impact on the conservation area.

"Where possible original materials will be kept or similar materials used thus enhancing the setting of this highly historical area."

Pandora is best known for its popular range of charm bracelets and has more than 300 stores across the UK.

The plan to refit the shop will go before Huntingdon Town Council in the weeks ahead, before it is considered by planning officials at the district council.
