ARTISTIC pupil James Glover won a competition to design a primary school’s new logo.
Acting headteacher Cathy Bailey launched the contest at Sawtry Junior School, in Middlefield Road, at the beginning of this term after a change in uniform provider created the perfect opportunity to get the logo more widely printed.
Approximately 200 entries were submitted by pupils, which Mrs Bailey whittled down to a first shortlist of 65 before teachers voted on a final shortlist of five.
The winner was chosen by headteacher Steve West, who is currently on sick leave. He liked nine-year-old James’s drawing of the A1 inside a hexagonal logo, with Sawtry Junior Schol written around the side, as it showed the school embarking on the road to success.
