A contender for the title of Huntingdonshire’s eldest “birthday boy” celebrated turning 103 last week.

Harry Emery has received yet another message of congratulations from the Queen, bringing his total to four.

A party was held for Mr Emery, whose real name is Henry, at Hunters Down Care Home in Huntingdon where he has lived for about four years.

Team leader Heather Wallace said: “Harry likes to sing with the staff - any song that comes to mind. He’s very bubbly and very lovable.”

Members of his family joined staff for the party, which included entertainment from a singer and a visit from deputy Mayor of Huntingdon Councillor Tanya Forster.

Mr Emery served in the RAF in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. He was married to Connie and lived for more than 20 years in Fenstanton, until her death in 2006.

He worked for travel agent Thomas Cook and as a removals estimator for Harrods in London, arranging removals for celebrities such as film star Joan Crawford.
