An inquest has been opened into the death of an inmate who died in a Huntingdonshire prison.
David Wood, 55, a prisoner at Littlehey Prison, in Perry, was found dead in his cell by prison staff on Tuesday, February 2.
A hearing into his death were opened by senior coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough David Heming on Wednesday (February 17).
Mr Heming told Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon, that the scene was attended by PC James Lee who reported that the Mr Wood was covered in a blanket and laying on his back at the time.
The full inquest has been scheduled for Thursday, June 30 where detailed evidence will be heard surrounding the death.
Before the inquest can take place an investigation will be conducted by the Independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman as Mr Wood died whilst in custody.
